Most hospital emergency rooms, mobile clinics, and urgent care centers are not equipped to handle dental emergencies, and thus if you go to one of these establishments you are unlikely to be treated.

Dental emergencies are often an indication of larger dental issues, and an important sign to get back into the habit of regularly visiting the dentist. Regular visits can help prevent future dental emergencies, saving you time, money, and your natural teeth.
The cost of a dental check-up and cleaning varies depending on a variety of factors, including the location of the dentist and the individual oral health of the patient.
Any dental check-up and cleaning should begin with a review of the patient's medical and dental history, and a discussion of any concerns. It should also include a thorough examination by Dr. Castleberry, a professional cleaning, X-rays, and an oral cancer screening.
The average cost for this type of appointment in markets across the United States is between $200 and $350. If you have dental insurance, the fees for a check-up and cleaning (including any out-of-pocket copays) are negotiated with us by your dental insurance provider.
As of 2023, there were 1,432 dentists in the city of Houston. A native Houstonian, Dr. Darrick Castleberry earned his dental degree at the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Greater Houston Dental Society, National Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Gulf State Dental Society, and the Charles A. George Dental Society, and he has also earned Fellowship status in The International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He was recently recognized by H-Texas Magazine as one of the top cosmetic dental offices in the nation and is a scholar at the world-renowned Las Vegas Institute (LVI) for Advanced Dental Studies.
Here in the United States, all dentists must earn either a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) or a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from one of the nation’s 67 accredited dental schools.
Acceptance into dental school requires the student to have earned a bachelor's degree (and typically very high grades) in a major that is heavy in math and science. Dental school is then an additional three years, with a combination of both classroom and hands-on learning.
Some dentists choose to continue their education by earning one of twelve specializations recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). These require an additional three or more years of dental school training.
Following dental school, all dentists are required to complete a certain number of continuing education hours in order to maintain their dental license.
